We are partnering with a leading quantitative trading firm to find a Desktop Engineer who can help keep a high-performance office running smoothly. This is a role for someone who enjoys being hands-on, can troubleshoot quickly under pressure, and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality support in a technically demanding environment.
What You Will do:
You will be part of the on-site desktop support function, supporting a large Dublin office with a broad range of endpoint, access, and hardware responsibilities. Rather than focusing on a narrow area, they’ll be a key point of contact for day-to-day support, escalations, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1st and 2nd line support for Windows desktop hardware and software across a fast-paced office environment
- Managing and resolving complex requests through a ticketing system, including triage, prioritization, and stakeholder communication
- Building, imaging, and deploying PCs, including software installations and coordinating procurement and hardware lifecycle needs
- Supporting peripherals and advanced desk setups, including printers, keyboards, monitors, KVM switches, and multi-monitor configurations
- Replacing and upgrading desktop components such as RAM and graphics cards where required
- Supporting mobile devices, including iOS and Android troubleshooting and configuration
- Administering user access, permissions, and account requests using directory and endpoint management tools
- Working closely with internal technology teams and external vendors across multiple regions to resolve issues efficiently
- Maintaining and improving documentation, runbooks, and a shared knowledge base to raise support quality and consistency
- Monitoring and diagnosing recurring endpoint issues and contributing to more proactive support processes
Who Will Thrive Here:
- We’re looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals and a service mindset:
- 3+ years of professional desktop support experience across hardware and software environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems (Windows 10/11; familiarity with earlier versions is a plus)
- Hands-on hardware experience supporting peripherals and advanced desk setups, including multi-monitor configurations and KVMs
- Comfort replacing workstation components (e.g., RAM, graphics cards) and troubleshooting printers and other peripherals
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and endpoint management (SCCM and/or Intune experience is advantageous)
- Solid understanding of O365 products and common enterprise productivity tooling
- Ability to monitor, diagnose, and resolve desktop issues methodically, including comfort making registry changes when required
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting for troubleshooting and automation
- Experience supporting trading or developer populations is beneficial
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
- A calm, structured approach under pressure with excellent time management and prioritization skills
