Infrastructure Engineer (Linux) – Amsterdam

The Linux engineering team powers a global fleet of high-performance servers that form the backbone of a critical, real-time technology platform. Operating in a highly customized bare-metal environment with proprietary tooling, the team designs and builds infrastructure that prioritizes performance, precision, and reliability at scale.

This role focuses on developing innovative solutions that support continuous technological evolution while maintaining the speed and stability required by demanding workloads.

What the role involves:

  • Designing, deploying, and managing the lifecycle of a large-scale fleet of Linux servers across multiple data centers to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Architecting, building, and maintaining systems that improve operational efficiency and support an evolving, high-performance technology stack.
  • Ensuring system reliability by diagnosing and resolving incidents quickly while continuously optimizing performance under demanding conditions.
  • Researching and implementing new technologies or developing enhanced in-house solutions to improve system stability and performance.
  • Bridging the gap between hardware and software to ensure seamless interaction across the technology stack.
  • Optimizing kernel and system performance through low-level tuning such as CPU affinity, NUMA balancing, HugePages configuration, IRQ tuning, and related optimizations.
  • Developing and maintaining automation tools using Python to improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring system health and performance using observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.
  • Managing system provisioning and infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Participating in a rotating support and on-call schedule to maintain the reliability of globally distributed systems.

Ideal profile

  • Experience with Linux engineering, including system administration, debugging, and OS provisioning.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, TCP/UDP/multicast, and packet analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with system and network diagnostic tools such as eBPF, tcpdump, strace, ntp/ptp, lsof, and netcat.
  • Experience with kernel-level and hardware-level performance optimization, including CPU pinning, cache tuning, and BIOS/UEFI configuration.
  • Knowledge of Linux security hardening practices.
  • Experience managing SAN storage environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and pull-request workflows.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms such as Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and operational tooling.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, collaborate effectively within engineering teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies in a high-performance engineering environment.

Benefits:

• Total compensation in the 150k-300k EUR range

• Full relocation & visa support if needed

• Discounted Health Insurance

• Wellness perks: first-class commuting, catered meals, in-house massages, Friday drinks, and more

• A generous budget for learning, certification and technical growth
